How Granite Countertop Are Made
Granite countertops are crafted from slabs of natural stone quarried from the earth. The process begins with extracting large blocks of granite, which are then sliced into thick slabs using precision diamond saws. These slabs are polished to enhance their natural colors and unique veining. Once polished, the granite is cut to size, edged, and prepped for sinks and other features. The result is a stunning, durable surface that showcases the natural beauty of stone, perfect for both kitchens and bathrooms.
Granite Durability
- Scratch-resistant – Extremely tough surface that resists cuts, scuffs, and daily wear.
- Stain-resistant (when sealed) – Naturally porous, but properly sealed granite resists stains from spills and oils.
- Heat-resistant – Withstands high temperatures; safe for hot pots and pans directly on the surface.
- Crack-resistant – Highly durable, but standing or sitting on countertops is never recommended, as it can cause cracks or structural damage.
- Low-maintenance – Easy to clean with mild soap and water; periodic sealing keeps the surface protected and looking new.
